Chefs@School is a Scottish Government funded initiative which is administered by the Federation of Chefs Scotland and supported by all of the chefs associations.
How it works
Volunteer cook and chefs work with in schools with children aged 3-18. School register their interest and where possible we link them with a chef in their local area. The school and the chef will then work together to deliver an agreed set of objectives. The chefs contribute their time to the project free of charge and we support them with resources and administrative help.
The schools and the chefs work together to source the food for the project from local businesses.

2015-2016 Focus
Supporting Scotland’s ambition to be a Good Food Nation by 2025 we see that Chefs @School can continue to contribute by extending the reach of the programme into
the homes and communities of the children that we are working with in schools.
Our mission is to support the 85% of the
children who want to cook more at home following a Chefs@School visit*. We will continue to develop the programme, so that there are links to resources
for parents on the topics that we have discussed during our school visits and
to show clear simple ways to implement changes in their own homes.
Partnerships
We are passionate about supporting and work with other
organisations link food knowledge from
field to plate.
Legacy
To make the maximum impact we will focus on working with teachers to
deliver more CPD events. Helping teachers
to bring food experiences into the class room even when they have little resource to do so.
